In the mural's center along Harrison Street we begin the narrative. The "huelga" in the background first used by Cesar Chavez is honored as one of our heros. We begin our story in the foreground about a mother growing up in the mission reminiscing about her sons death. How the police used to think he was a gang member because he used to be with two of his friends. The police consider three people a gang because of the gang injection so they took him to jail. Then he came out of jail and was hanging out and got shot in a drive by. The picture tells a story about how it's not only the kid that gets shot who suffers but his family does too and stays with that memory in there heart. The picture says we should stop killing and make the right choice to make our community better.
A 24th and Harrison Street sign with the words WHY as a tattoo on someone's forearm sits on top of a graveyard with tombstones that say RIP represent the loved ones that have passed from violence in our neighborhood with the golden gate bridge in the background. The mural ends to the left with a childlike neighborhood reflecting the daycare kids innocence in the daycare facility next door.
To the right of the Huelga bird is a darkened sky with stars and a peace sign, the words DRAMA are written in a cloud. In the foreground is a neighborhood with Abby's Store and two of the artists names grafitti style, to the right four large hands from different races connect with words of encouragement to the community and the word Pray are written. As you turn the corner to 24th Street a woman is holding a prayer cross, two graphic images support the front door with the letters M.G. for Mission Girls the mural ends to the right where a young girl swings freely from a tree.
